About the Search Box
The script that implements the search feature
performs a number of different functions depending on the input
it receives. It looks for built-in functions as well as keyword
matches to make getting to the desired information as quick
as possible. These features are described in more detail in the
following sections.
Built-in Functions
The following short-cut functions are built into the search
script. (Recommendations for additional functions are welcome.)
You use these functions by specifying "[function]: [search-string]".
If you do not specify a function and no keywords are found in
what is entered, the default function is to Search peds.wustl.edu

| | directory | | Search Pediatric's directory. |

| | g | | Alias for google. |

| | lookup | | Call the peds.wustl.edu combined WUSTL/BJC directory. |
| | peds | | Alias for search. |
| | search | | This can be used to force a peds.wustl.edu search if a keyword match does not allow a search to happen by default. |
| | slch | | Search SLCH web site. |
| | weather | | Get the weather for a particular zip code from the National Weather Service |
| | wusm | | Search medicine.wustl.edu |
| | wustl | | Search wustl.edu |
| | y | | Alias for yahoo. |
| | yahoo | | Search using YaHoo.COM |
Function Examples
Find all the "J Smith" at WUSTL or BJC:

What's the weather going to be like in St. Louis?

Search peds.wustl.edu for "research":

Keywords
A number of keywords are available as shortcuts to Web sites/pages
specific to the Department of Pediatrics. To use them, simply enter the
keyword on the left into the box and press the enter/return key. A
partial list follows:

Remember, you can always force a search of peds.wustl.edu instead of allowing
a keyword to fire using the built-in function search:
search: [search-terms]
