Residency Program | Program Description

Program Leadership

The program director, Andrew J. White, MD, and his four associate program directors oversee the educational curriculum for the residency program.  This includes maintaining and updating all educational opportunities such as ward and outpatient rotations, didactic lectures, simulation sessions, mentoring, intern retreat, continuity clinics as well as strong support for extracurricular relaxation, such as Cardinals tickets, Symphony tickets, Opera tickets, the Reperatory Theatre of St. Louis and many others.

The job of chief resident is highly regarded and competitive. Chief residency provides a challenging blend of clinical, educational and administrative responsibilities, with opportunity for refinement of clinical skills, development of leadership skills, participation in residency curriculum planning, and supervision of medical students and residents. Chief residents are selected at the end of the intern year.

Commitees

Resident Recruitment/Selection Committee
This committee reviews all applications and interview evaluations, assisting the program director in the ranking of the next intern class.

Mentor Committee
Mentors for each intern are selected by the program director and associate program directors based on interests, medical school affiliation and research. The mentor committee meets semi-annually to discuss the advancement of their interns.
