VPN Information

PCF realizes that secure remote access for faculty and staff is necessary. The PCF preferred secure remote access is via Citrix Metaframe or the Outlook web-based e-mail. Both methods provide secure 128-bit encryption. PCF realizes that these options may not meet all remote access requirements. Under certain circumstances, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection may be necessary. VPN service is available through MSCNS. To use this service, VPN client software must be loaded and configured on the remote system. Since the software must be loaded at the remote system, it would be impractical for PCF to fully support this remote installation. If you choose to use the VPN client, please be aware that support from PCF will be limited or non-existent. If support for the VPN software is a consideration for you, please review the options available via the secure Citrix Metaframe and Outlook web-based clients.

Using VPN requires an account as well as software. The VPN account request process from MSCNS requires a secure username and password. As a service to our customers we will request the VPN account for you. Please contact the PCF Helpdesk via e-mail at helpdesk@kids.wustl.edu providing your name, department, phone number, e-mail address and the resources you will need connectivity to: Clinical Desktop, SoftMed, MEIS, etc... We will need this information to request the account on your behalf.
