We have
the only interdisciplinary Down Syndrome Clinic in Missouri.

Our PKU
and Metabolism Clinics are staffed by a geneticist with
more than a decade of experience, a metabolic dietician,
and a child neurologist and the only board-certified biochemical
geneticist in the St. Louis region.

The Cancer
Genetics Clinic offers counseling for a wide array of familial
and genetic cancer syndromes.

The Lysosomal
Storage Disease Center provides clinical and research treatment
for a variety of storage disorders.
We provide treatment
to patients at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Barnes-Jewish
Hospital on the Washington University School of Medicine
medical campus. St. Louis Children’s Hospital is recognized
as one of the best Children’s Hospitals in the United States,
and Washington University School of Medicine is consistently
ranked as one of the top medical schools in the country.
We are actively involved
in teaching genetics and genomic medicine to college and
medical students at Washington University, residents and
postgraduate fellows on our medical campus, and physicians
and other healthcare providers at Washington University
and in the greater St. Louis community.
Our clinical and research
faculty are committed to staying at the forefront of medicine
as we contribute to the rapidly expanding discoveries in
genetics and genomic medicine. Divisional research
initiatives focus on basic mechanisms of gene expression,
heavy metal metabolism, novel treatment options for phenylketonuria,
the genetics of autism and mental retardation, and treatment
for lysosomal storage disorders.
