Robert J. Rothbaum, M.D. [ contact information ]
Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Rothbaum was born in
Indianapolis and received his bachelor's degree from Brown University.
He received his M.D. from the University of Chicago Medical School. He
trained in pediatrics at St. Louis Children's Hospital and in pediatric
gastroenterology fellowship at Children's Hospital of Cincinnati. From
1983-1992 he served as director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center of St.
Louis Children's Hospital. He is a member of the Academy of Pediatrics,
NASPGN, and the American Gastroenterological Association. He is
certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American
Academy of Pediatrics and the Academy Subsection on Pediatric
Gastroenterology.
Dr. Rothbaum attended Brown University and the University of Chicago
Medical School. He trained in pediatrics at St. Louis Children's
Hospital and in pediatric gastroenterology at Children's Hospital
Medical Center of Cincinnati. In 1982, he returned to a faculty
appointment at St. Louis Children's Hospital. From 1983 to 1992, he
served as director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center of St. Louis Children's
Hospital and then became the clinical director of the division of
gastroenterology and nutrition.
As clinical director, Dr. Rothbaum oversees the outpatient clinic,
ambulatory procedure center and the gastroenterology office. His
research interests include the gastrointestinal and nutritional
manifestations of cystic fibrosis as well as medical and
psychophysiologic management of children with inflammatory bowel
disease. With Dr. Michael Debaun, Dr. Rothbaum recently initiated an
international registry of patients and families with Schwachman-Diamond
syndrome. He was the 1998 recipient of the Physician of the Year by the
Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
