Dr. McGann's previous basic research interests focused on the role of the placenta in vertical transmission of HIV. Her present interests are clinical and revolve around inpatient and outpatient consultative care of patients with a wide variety of infectious diseases. Specific interests include care of HIV-exposed infants and children and adolescents, congenital infections, and infections in immunocompromised hosts (e.g. transplant recipients, etc). She is Medical Co-Director for Project A.R.K. (AIDS/HIV Resources for Kids) and the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV Specialty Clinic. In addition, she is Co-Coursemaster for the Pediatric medical student clerkship of the Women and Children's Health Clerkship.
