Assistant Professor of Pediatrics; Co-director Core Laboratory; Director Hematology Section Core Laboratory

Dr. Luchtman-Jones graduated from the University of California, San Diego and received her medical degree from the School of Medicine there. Following the completion of a pediatric residency through the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, she joined the faculty of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of pediatrics for one year. She then joined the Washington University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics in 1991 as a fellow in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. Upon completion of her fellowship in 1994, she joined the Division of Clinical Laboratories as the Medical Director of the Hematology Laboratory at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Dr. Luchtman-Jones also the Medical Director of the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Clinic.

Her research interests are in thrombosis and hemostasis. She is currently involved in clinical trials of low molecular weight heparin in pediatric patients and in evaluation of new imaging technology for venous thrombosis. Additional ongoing clinical trials include evaluation of point-of-care monitors for oral anti coagulation and in ECMO patients. She is also the institutional PI for multicenter studies of an investigational agent for the treatment of sickle cell vaso-occlusive crises. She is the institutional PI for the Children's Oncology Group and an attending physician in Hematology/ Oncology and General Pediatrics.
