Instructor

Dr. Lin is an attending physician in the Division of Critical Care Medicine and a member of the laboratory of Dr. Michael Caparon in the Department of Molecular Microbiology. She received her medical degree from The University of Cincinnati School of Medicine and did her residency at The University of Michigan. She completed a pediatric critical care fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis and joined the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine in 2005. She is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society for Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Lin's research interests center around understanding the pathology of invasive Streptococcus pyogenes infections. She uses the embryo of the zebrafish, Danio rerio, as an animal model to help elucidate host pathogen interactions during early infection. Dr. Lin is particularly interested in the interaction of streptococcal virulence factors like Streptolysin S with the host immune response during the early stages of infection and the consequences of abnormal host pathogen interactions leading to invasive infections.
