Abby Solomon Hollander, M.D. joined the faculty of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology in 1992. She is currently on the Clinician Educator Track. Her clinical interests cover all aspects of Pediatric Endocrinology, including growth disorders, thyroid disorders, pubertal disorders, adrenal disease, and diabetes. She participates as a member of the Diabetes Team of St. Louis Children's Hospital, which works to improve delivery of care to patients with diabetes mellitus, and as a member of the Neuro-Oncology Team, a multi-disciplinary group which works to provide comprehensive care to patients with brain tumors. Additionally, she serves as medical director of the ambulatory clinics for the Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Hollander has been involved in several clinical research projects. Over the past five years, she has presented information at national meetings regarding the molecular variants of growth hormone, the use of insulin pumps in children, and complicated presentations of type-2 diabetes in adolescents. She has been an investigator in exciting multicenter studies which are looking at new therapies in diabetes mellitus, growth hormone deficiency, and hypothalamic obesity. She is working with Dr. White to define the risks and benefits of insulin pump therapy in children with diabetes.

Dr. Hollander is very involved with the local chapter of the American Diabetes Association, and has been a member of the Camp Committee, Youth Group and the Board of Directors. She has been a Diabetes Camp Physician since 1990, and became Medical Director of the camp in 2001.

Dr. Hollander spent her formative years in Cleveland, Ohio (go Tribe!). She graduated from Cornell University (1982) and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (1986). Her pediatric residency (1986-1989) was completed at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois (Northwestern University). She is a graduate of the Fellowship Program in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (Metabolism) at St. Louis Children's Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine (1989-1992). She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Hollander is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Diabetes Association, the Endocrine Society, and the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society.
