What to Expect

The Diagnostic Center office hours are Tuesday and Wednesday of every week on the 2nd floor of St. Louis Children's Hospital.  Patients with urgent problems are seen on other days. sThe initial visit may last up to 2 hours, possibly longer if testing is needed.  In most cases the attending physician and his or her associate (resident, fellow, or medical student) will see you.  Many times the associate will see you first.

The Diagnostic Center personnel seek all available medical information (summary of your child's problem, x-ray and lab reports) prior to the appointment.  This allows the physician to review the medical records prior to the appointment.

The Department of Pediatrics will file insurance claims with your insurance company.  Please bring all insurance information with you at the time of visit.  If you are unsure about whether your insurance is covered by one of our specialists, or if your insurance requires a referral please call us at (314) 454-2479.

St. Louis Children's Hospital is located on Kingshighway north of interstate 64/U.S.40 next to Barnes-Jewish Hospital on One Children's Place, St. Louis, MO.  Parking is available on One Children's Place across from the hospital entrance.  Parking is free with a validated receipt.

After your initial visit, the specialist will write or call your pediatrician to report the results of the evaluation.  If another appointment is necessary to discuss the results and progress of treatment, that next appointment can be scheduled as you leave the clinic or by calling us at (314) 454-2479.

Please call our office with any questions you may have, (314) 454-2479.
