E-Catalog is the Library's new on-line catalog to collections in
print and electronic formats including over 300 electronic journals,

OVID/EUCLID is the Library's Biomedical Information System providing
Washington University, Barnes-Jewish, and Missouri Baptist
personnel with access to databases (MEDLINE, Nursing, CancerLit,
AIDSLine, and more) and over 80 full-text clinical on-line journals.
Passwords are required. Classes are held every Tuesday at 2:00,
Wednesday at 3:00 or by appointment. EUCLID is the local
designation for the more generally known OVID database system.

The Web of Science not only provides weekly updates to current
biomedical literature, but indexes and links the cited references
for each article. Searchers can identify key and related articles

The Becker Library is now offering on-line access to the full-text
publications of several scientific and medical publishers including

Blackwell Publishing's Electronic Journal Navigator (EJN) provides
on-line table of contents and abstracts from 571 scientific journals
and the full-text of 14 biomedical journals for Washington University
users. These titles represent a range of biomedical publishers including
Thomson Science, Oxford University Press, Taylor and Francis, Rockefeller
University Press, and Academic Press.

STAT!Ref is a unique resource as this system offers on-line full-text
access to 28 basic medical textbooks including Current Diagnosis and
Treatment titles, the Merck Manual, various drug information tools and
the Review of Medical Physiology. This system is in development and the

is now also available on the WWW. Authored by over 140 leading
scholar-physicians covering 15 subspecialties of internal medicine,
Scientific American Medicine is a valuable tool for obtaining current
clinically-oriented information.

ILLiad is the Library's new electronic system for requesting
documents or books to be copied or borrowed for you. Requests
can now be made from your desktop without having to come to the
Library. Each request costs $4.00. This fall, the Library will
add a feature to ILLiad which will enable us to scan your request
and send it directly to your PC on your desk via the Internet.

The Beilstein Crossfire Organic Chemistry Database covers preparation
and properties of organic compounds. Features include substance
information, reactions, and bibliographic citations hyperlinked to
the substances and reactions. Crossfire is a client/server software
program that you install directly onto your computer. Beilstein
software may be downloaded from the site listed above at the University
of Wisconsin. Once downloaded, contact the Information Services staff to
obtain the Washington University logon and password to complete the connection.

SciFinder Scholar is a desktop application enabling researchers to
access the CA Plus database over the Internet. Articles may be
searched and retrieved by topic with natural language questions;
by specific author(s); by chemical substances by chemical name,
structure, formulas, or CAS Registry Numbers; by reactions, starting
from structures of interest; and by patent numbers. Search results may
be refined by author name, document type, or publication year. SciFinder
provides access directly to the CA Plus file that is updated on a daily
basis as well as the Registry file. Like Beilstein's CrossFire, SciFinder
Scholar client software must be downloaded to your desktop. Go to the
site listed here for step-by-step directions.
