Center for Adult Congenital Heart Disease
The Center for Adults with Congenital Heart Disease is designed to provide
continued cardiology care in an adult setting. The Center is staffed by
three Washington University faculty adult cardiologists and a nurse
coordinator with special interest and training in congenital heart disease.
Their expertise provides for knowledgeable follow up of congenital heart
defects, as well as acquired cardiac problems, such as coronary artery
disease. The Center has close affiliation with multiple specialties to
provide for specific needs, including cardiac electrophysiology, surgery,
rehabilitation, high risk and general obstetrics/gynecology, radiology and
select general medical and surgical subspecialties. The Center also has
ready access to a specialized social worker that is experienced in social
problems such as health insurance and disability.
The center currently serves over 1100 patients. Clinics meet every Monday,
Tuesday, and Thursday mornings. Pediatric cardiology fellows rotate in this
clinic during their last year. Additional opportunities for elective time
with the adult congenital clinic can be arranged earlier in the fellowship.
The faculty staff for the Center are: Michael Beardslee, M.D., Joseph
Billadello, M.D., and Philip Ludbrook, M.D.
