A minimum of three years of pediatrics internship and residency is required prior to beginning subspecialty training in pediatric cardiology. Applications are available through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) website, "opens November 15, 2012" for the December application cycle. Through ERAS, applicants submit their (MSPE) Medical Student Performance Evaluation (formerly known as the Dean’s letter), medical school transcript of grades, three letters of reference, and a recent photo. Letters of reference from the pediatric program director (or chairperson) and a pediatric cardiologist familiar with the candidate are especially helpful. Also, each letter of recommendation writer needs to include a completed Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Evaluation Form (https://www.aamc.org/download/263704/data/peds_cardio_form.pdf) along with their written letter and send it to the ERAS Fellowships Documents Office (EFDO) for processing. This form is also available on the ERAS web site. The application deadline is February 28, 2013.
Candidates selected for an interview are invited to spend a day in St. Louis to become more familiar with opportunities at our program. Interviews are conducted between December and mid-April.
